Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – 808 Investigations, a licensed private investigation firm based in Honolulu, reports increasing demand for asset searches and hidden income investigations related to divorce and family court proceedings in Hawaiʻi.
According to Debra Allen, Licensed Private Investigator and founder of 808 Investigations, financial transparency has become one of the most contested issues in high conflict divorce and custody cases.
“In family law matters, accurate financial disclosure is critical,” said Allen. “When one party suspects concealed income, undisclosed assets, or misrepresented financial status, a professional investigation can help clarify the situation.”
Hidden income may include:
• Undisclosed side businesses
• Cash based work
• Online sales or digital revenue streams
• Cryptocurrency holdings
• Hidden bank accounts
• Transferred or concealed assets
Hawaiʻi presents unique investigative challenges due to the state’s geographic isolation, cash based service industries, and frequent inter island movement. In addition, remote work and digital commerce have increased opportunities for income to be generated outside traditional employment structures.
808 Investigations works with family law attorneys and private clients throughout Hawaiʻi to conduct lawful asset searches, background investigations, and financial activity reviews designed to uncover verifiable information that may be relevant in court proceedings.
“These investigations are not about harassment or intimidation,” Allen explained. “They are about documentation, verification, and ensuring that decisions regarding support and custody are based on accurate financial information.”
In addition to asset investigations, 808 Investigations provides surveillance services, background investigations, and litigation support for attorneys across the Hawaiian Islands.

HONOLULU, Hawaiʻi — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After a three month international search, 808 Investigations successfully located a missing British national who had been living in Hawaiʻi for approximately seven months under increasingly difficult circumstances.
The individual traveled from Great Britain to Hawaiʻi after forming an online gaming relationship. Without fully informing his family of his plans, he relocated internationally to pursue the connection. When the relationship was not reciprocated, he remained in Hawaiʻi without a stable support system.
During his first week on Oʻahu, he was robbed and his money, wallet, and passport were taken. Without identification, funds, or a local support network, his situation deteriorated quickly. Embarrassment over the failed relationship and reluctance to contact family led to growing isolation.
Over the course of approximately seven months in Hawaiʻi, financial hardship escalated. He learned to survive day to day by seeking food assistance where possible and relying on informal means to meet basic needs. Mental health challenges intensified during this period, and communication with his family in Great Britain ceased completely.
Concerned for his safety, the family retained 808 Investigations to conduct a missing person investigation in Hawaiʻi.
After approximately three months of investigative work, a breakthrough occurred when investigators identified recent social media activity believed to have been accessed through a local public library. The activity helped narrow the search to a specific general area consistent with information he had previously shared.
Through careful field investigation and trust-based engagement, 808 Investigations located the missing individual. Establishing rapport was essential to ensuring voluntary cooperation and preserving dignity.
Because his passport had been stolen, 808 Investigations also assisted with coordination through the appropriate consular process to obtain replacement travel documentation and related paperwork, allowing for a safe return home.
Family members traveled from Great Britain to Hawaiʻi following confirmation of his location. With gradual trust building and coordinated support, he voluntarily returned home and has since reunited with his family.
“This case reflects how quickly international relocation without support can spiral into crisis,” said Debra Allen, Licensed Private Investigator and founder of 808 Investigations. “Our work extends beyond locating individuals. We focus on safe, respectful reunification.”
808 Investigations specializes in missing person investigations in Hawaiʻi, including international cases requiring coordination, field investigation, and family reunification support.
